Taylor Takes To Cedar Lake Speedway Quickly With Some Luck
(New Richmond, WI)--Some good luck resulted in Adam Taylor of Whitfield, IN chalking up AutoMeter Powered By Gandrud Performance Wisconsin WingLESS Sprints feature win number seven on opening night of the 25th Annual Jerry Reichert Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond.
Taylor was running a distant second to Cam Shafer of Little Canada, MN, in the closing laps of the 20-lap main. A tangle with a lapped car resulted in Shafer, 2-time Upper Midwest Traditional Sprint Series Champion and five time Cedar Lake Speedway title holder, spinning and restarting toward the back setting up a green-white-checkered finish.
Taylor inherited the lead going on to score the victory over a fast closing runner-up Ken Horn of Grand Rapids, MN who came across less than a second behind the winner. Horn earned the Behling Race Equipment hard charger by improving 13 spots from his original 15th starting spot.
Salem's George Gaertner III had a career podium finish taking third. Bryan Roach of Goodhue, MN was fourth. Tyler Kuxhouse of Antioch, IL placed fifth as there was tight wheel to wheel racing throughout the field.
"I hate for someone else to have bad luck, but if luck helps us get a win I'll take it," admitted Taylor, noting it was a 8-hour drive to get to a track which he had never seen before. "This makes up for the steering wheel coming off in the heat race. Got a new one on and thanks to my parents, girlfriend and our marketing partners, it made the trip worth it."
Weston Johnson of Clayton, MN won the Behling Race Equipment 12-lap B-Main.
Gaertner picked up the win in the Fox Lake Harbor presents All Star Performance 1st Heat. Kuxhouse took the win in the Game Day Men's Health 2nd Heat. Shafer won the BR Motorsports 3rd Heat. Kenosha's Bryce Andrews the King Race Products 4th Heat.
Taylor clocked a :16.036 seconds lap to best 35 competitors in Body Craft qualifying.
Night two will be Saturday, September 6 at Cedar Lake Speedway.
