Vandervere Becomes Winningest Driver in 2018

Matt Vandervere tried every line possible around the Wilmot Raceway to get around Chris Dodd, and once he finally did he would not be denied his 3rd win of 2018.

39 Wisconsin wingLESS teams signed in for action at Wilmot raceway. In Qualifying, Auburn, Illinois’ Mitchell Davis set fast time over Ryan Zielski and Jimmy Kouba. Nathan Crane and Matt Vandervere timed in 4th and 5th respectively.
Heat race number 1 saw Matt Vandervere and Rusty Egan do battle, with Eagan getting the upper hand. Egan picked up the win over Vandervere. Mitchell Davis brought his number 10 machine home in 3rd followed by Nick Petska and James Walldan.
Heat 2 saw former series champion Doug Schenck take home the checkers over a hard charging Derek Crane, who went 7th to 2nd in the heat. Ryan Zielski would claim 3rd ahead of Patrick Haynes and Craig Campton.
The 3rd heat race was won by Chris Dodd, over Tim Cox. Chris Klemko brought his 70 machine home in 3rd, in front of pole starting Jake Kouba. Randy Stanford founded out the top 5.
Heat race 4 saw pole starting Craig Lager get the jump and never look back in route to the win. Allen Hafford came home in 2nd ahead of Jimmy Sivia. Travis Mahoney would cross in 4th, with Scott Grissom in 5th.

B feature number 1 was claimed by Jimmy Kouba over Randy Stanford. Zach Raidart would grab the 3rd and final transfer spot over Craig Campton and 11th starting Johnny Fahl.
The 2nd B main was won by Nathan Crane over defending champion Jordan Mattson. James Walldan would pick up 3rd followed by Scott Grissom and Jordan Paulson.

The A main saw Chris Dodd and Matt Vandervere start from the front row. The pair, who are the only repeat winners in 2018, did battle for most of the race with Chris Dodd running perfect laps around the bottom of the race track while “Matty V” tried every possible line around the 3/8ths mile oval to work past the Bumper to Bumper 01 of Dodd. As the race neared the finish, the low line began to give up and Vandervere was able to work past Dodd, and pick up his 3rd win of the season aboard the Dan Wade owned 15v. Mitchell Davis followed Vandervere on the high side to grab 2nd place followed by 11th starting Tim Cox. Dodd, who lead much of the race would be relegated to 4th place ahead of Derek Crane.
