Bio Doug Schenck

Occupation – President & C.O.O. of Olson Vacuum Cleaners
Doug began his driving career at the age of 5. He would go with his dad who worked at the local go cart track on the weekends where his father Robert “Red” Schenck would put him in a cart and let him run for hours when there were no rental customers. So begins a lifelong addiction to racing.
Doug’s first midget ride came in 1976. The car owner was LeRoy Stoffet. The car was a Shilala with a bolt on cage, spring front, Chevy 2 motor. Doug’s best season came in 1999 with a 5th place finish in the BMARA points.
In 2001 Doug switched to the MSA Winged Sprint Car Assc. First night out was very eventful. He set Quick Time and immediately went out in the heat race and flipped the car. The 71s finished 16th in points that first year. 2002 was much better with 3 feature wins and a 3rd in points. 2003 and 2004 were fantastic years. With 10 more feature wins and 2 Championships won! Then it was time to go back home and finish out the last 3 years of his career in the midgets where he started. At the end the 2007 season after years of racing and crashing and turning 50 it was time to retire.
In late 2014 with the word that a new non winged spec motor series would be starting in 2015, Doug talked with his friends about how a couple more trips around the track? That was answered with a resounding yes! So at age 57, Final Effort Racing was formed with the intent to have some more fun and win a few races. That’s exactly what happened. With 3 feature wins, countless heat wins and the 2015 Wilmot wingLess Championship mission accomplished.
2016 looks good with a completely brand new car being built and the 2015 championship car sitting in the wings, we’ll see if the old guys can rule again?
