Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints

Wilmot Canceled May 17 - IRA Founders Night Saturday, May 24 At Original Home - Wilmot Raceway

Wilmot Raceway's race program May 17 canceled due to power issues.

Next up for AutoMeter Wisconsin WingLESS is the IRA Founders Night Memorial Day weekend Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the original home track for all three IRA classes, Wilmot Raceway on the Kenosha County Fairgrounds.

Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Winged Outlaw Sprints, WingLESS Sprints and 11-75 Sports Park & Eatery Lightning Sprints are on the all sprint car portion of the card. Wilmot's Bandit 4-Cylinder Stock Cars will be competing as well.

The Interstate Racing Association was founded in a fall meeting 60 years ago at the late Ray Toft's kitchen table in Antioch, IL. The first races were run the next sprint at "the old track" located just south of the existing facility west of Wilmot High School.

At the historic meeting was the late the late Ray Toft and Junior Dodd, along with Whitey Harris.

This year marks the 59th season of IRA sanctioned competition.

The Wisconsin WingLESS sprints are in their 11th season. The lightning sprints, which began as the Wisconsin-Illinois Mini-Sprints, are in their 35th season.

All three have Wilmot Raceway (Kenosha County Speedway/Wilmot Speedway) as the race track where they originated.

"Founders Night is very special," said Steve Sinclair, IRA president. "Recognizing the gentlemen who had the foresight to begin it all, Ray Toft, Junior Dodd and Whitey Harris, is important. Remembering the roots of sprint car racing and what it has grown into in Wisconsin is special."

"We appreciate the long standing support of Mark and Tony Maglio, of Body Craft, which have given so much to the sport, the IRA and Wilmot," Sinclair added. "We look forward to continuing a outstanding partnership."

"Thanks to the Kenosha County Fair Association, Wilmot Raceway/Kenosha County Fair General Manager Jenny Hesse and Race Coordinator Chris Klemko, along with their staff, for the cooperative effort to putting this great event on."

Several former IRA competitors are planning to be on hand with some bringing their race cars. John Tierney, Jim Moulis and Joe Kristan are working to have cars on hand with other possible cars coming as well. Dick Colburn, Carmen Manzardo and Dave Moulis have indicated plans to attend, with others still expected.

For advance tickets for to Wilmot Raceway.Com. Pit gates open at 2 pm, grandstands at 4 pm, hot laps/qualifying at 5:45 pm with opening ceremonies and racing to follow.
